Open an existing COCOS project
Existing projects do not need to be recreated. Open the root containing the project configuration and assets, rather than a scene file, script folder, or the assets subfolder alone.
PinK currently supports only projects using the COCOS 3.8.8 engine.
Before opening
- Keep a recoverable version-control state or backup copy.
- Read the project's README, dependency instructions, and build instructions.
- Confirm the engine version supported by the project.
- Preserve
library, temp, and other caches initially so that diagnostic evidence remains available.
Open the project
- Select Open Folder in the welcome area or File → Open Folder.
- Choose the root containing both
package.jsonandassets. - Wait for project initialization, asset scanning, and script indexing.
- Open the entry scene and check the asset tree, Problems panel, and Output panel.
Large projects may take time to scan and index on first opening. If a command is temporarily unavailable, wait for initialization rather than repeatedly opening scenes or switching projects.
Follow the tutorial with Pink Demo
Pink Demo is the 2D click-to-score example used in this guide. It is maintained in a separate official repository and is not bundled with the PinK installer.
Download a ZIP from the official Pink Demo repository using Code → Download ZIP, or clone it:
git clone https://github.com/SUD-GLOBAL/pink-game-demo.gitAfter extracting or cloning, open the directory containing both package.json and assets. A Git clone normally creates pink-game-demo; a ZIP extraction may add the -main suffix.
Open Pink Demo
- Select Open Folder in PinK.
- Choose the downloaded
pink-game-demoroot directory. - Wait for initialization to finish.
- Expand the asset tree and open
assets/main.scene.
The validated COCOS version is listed in First AI change: Pink Demo. Confirm that assets are complete and the status bar has finished initializing. Address the earliest error in the Problems or Output panel first.
Once the project is ready, continue with First AI change: Pink Demo.
